What is Handix?

Handix is a solidarity project which was born to bring mountain sports close to disabled people.

It was born in 2003 as a High mountain, ravines and ski school company with the idea of normalizing the offer of these activities to disabled people; defending the possibility of hiring the services of a professional to carry out your mountain and skiing projects without an extra cost for the disabled clients who need adapted material or a previous study about the activity and the client needs.

Handix invests all the benefits made with the mountain work with non-disabled clients from the beginning in the necessary extra costs for disabled clients. In this way, we wat to normalize the access to mountaineering and skiing to disabled people.

Working lines

Jabi’s working lines in Handix project are:

• Training of professionals who want to learn about disability. Addressed to snow professionals, mountain guides, ravines, ski resorts (training for pisters, training for ski lifts drivers…), complementary training for sports technicians (courses about disability) …
• Design and development of materials and techniques about disability and mountain.
• Mountain guidance in alpinism, mountain skiing, rock and ice climbing, canyonism and making trips of these activities in the Pyrenees, the Alps and many other destinations like the North of Europe, Reunion Island or South America.

All this has made Handix a European reference when talking about mountaineering and disability with a unique project endorsed for accessibility prizes and acknowledgment in society prizes.

Adapted activities

A differentiating detail about Handix is the adapted activities offer for physical, mental, sensorial or organic disabilities; no matter the disability degree and characteristics of each person.

All our activities are prepared and adapted for every client, counting with medical and orthopaedic professional advice we work with.

In Handix foundation activities, and in order to normalize the offer for disabled people, all the necessary adapted material is made available with no extra costs, supporting that the fact of having special necessities doesn’t mean assuming an extra cost to make these activities.

We always wanted to work in an entourage with a global idea of accessibility, where the clients can count with an accessible global offer in the destination where the service is given, being able to enjoy just like everyone else of all the offers in the place where the activity is made, accommodation, services, leisure…

Our offer is addressed both to particular clients and families and organisations.
