French Pyrenees
This programme is intended for canyonists with experience who want to get to know the jewels that the region offer us, located between Sainte Engrâce valley and de Ossau valley, Atlantic Pyrenees. We will stay in two zones with a displacement day to the d’Ossau Valley, where we will carry out a shorter ravine to have an “active rest” before making the last descent of the program.
Programme
- Day 1: Saratzé Ravine, vertical and fitted, very aesthetical and funny ravine, which will be a good introduction to this zone being one of the tributaries of the Olhadubie.
- Day 2: Althagneta ravine. This descent has only a possible description: spectacular. It is a tributary of the gorge that names this zone: Kakoueta. It’s a very aesthetical and elegant descent that, with a great number of rappels, descents by a beautiful cirque.
- Day 3: Olhadubie canyon, for some is the most beautiful ravine in the Basque Country. It is a huge size descent due to its technical difficulties and its length. It is the most complete of the week.
- Day 4: Souessoueu ravine. This descent is characterized by the amount of toboggans that has on its route thanks to the rock it goes by, granite. It is known as the O’ssau’s “aqualand” and, not being extremely technical, will leave a good taste in the mouth because of how complete its progression is.
- Day 5: Lower Bitet ravine, another of the region’s jewel. It’s the most emblematic descent of the region and it’s a technical descent with a great number of amazing toboggans and rappels, with technical handrails and very encased zones that will make us feel as If we were in a cave. Very savage descent, typical from the French Pyrenees.
